It is typically processed lightly, though a bit more than white tea before oxidation is stopped. The oxidation itself is stopped either through steaming, as is common practice in Japan, or through heating over a fire or in a stove, also called pan-fired green. Where steam is used the teas are often more vibrant in their green color and the leaf often breaks up resulting in a variety of sizes. By contrast green teas produced using dry heat to stop oxidation tend to be more of a dull green color, have a more floral aroma, and retain the leaf structure without breaking down. Regardless of the method used to halt oxidation in green teas, the color does remain green. Take a step out of the norm with our Chocolate Matcha. This is a blend of our premium grade matcha mixed with an organic cocoa powder for a rich, smooth and energizing cup. Great hot like an adult hot chocolate or cold for a rich, cool treat!
Ingredients: Matcha Green Tea, Organic Cocoa Powder
Hot Preparation:
Step 1: Place ½ tsp in a bowl and add 3 oz of 180° water or oat milk
Step 2: Whisk with bamboo whisk or hand mixer until smooth and frothy
Step 3: Add additional water or oat milk to taste as desired
(Tip: For a little sweetness add ½ tsp Agave Syrup, Yum!)
Cold Preparation:
Step 1: Blend 1 tsp with 16 ounces of cold oat milk
Step 2: Add ½ - 1 tsp Agave Syrup and stir till smooth
Step 3: Add a few ice cubes, Close your eyes and savor the flavor
My daughter and I loved trying this at the farmer's market in Walla Walla. We both bought a bag. I use it with slightly sweet vanilla almond milk to make iced lattes. Perfect ratio of matcha to chocolate. Yum!
